Koga-Miyata Herbold replica '90

I'm not entirely sure but I think it was the 1990 season during his illustrious career, Greg Herbold rode a few races on this Koga Miyata RidgeRunner bike. I've always been a fan of the "bikes of the Pro's" so this bike couldn't be missed in my collection.

The large elevated frame, build from 6061 aluminium tubes, is fore sure as heavy as it looks.. Up front the first production suspension fork, with an astonishing 2 inches of travel (..), the Rock Shox 1.

The Onza titanium barends in this remarkable position was meant for Greg to get into a more aerodynamic position on the high speed parts of the downhill courses.

Build with a full Shimano XT M-735 groupset, with U-brake, rapidfire shifters, seatpost, SPD pedals and 1' headset. Ringle H2O bottlecage and I know I know, it misses the L-bracket.

Lot's of pro racers used the Onza Purcupine 1.95' tyres in those early days. Unique feature to mention is the Hite-Rite seatpost "dropper"
