Cannondale Scalpel Christoph Sauser 2004 olympic prototype

The Cannondale Scalpel prototype that Christoph Sauser rode during the 2004 olympic games in Athens, which he unfortunatelly had to abandon after a broken chain.

Christop said to me: "i was involved in a start crash unfortunatelly and lost many positions. About two-thirds into the race, I made my way to the front again, and that's when the chain snapped".

Christoph was known for making his mtb racing bikes lighter when possible, as you can see he used a lot of aluminium bolts and screws.

Ironically, the broken chain was a standard SRAM PC99 hollowpin chain.

Check the 88+ tuned Lefty ELO with the lockout also on the bar-end and the Dura Ace front derailleur for better clearance at the chainstay.
