American Eagle Bart Brentjens 1994-95

This is not a repica build, it is one of the actual bikes that Bart Brentjens used during the 1994-95 season in which he won the Grundig World Cup Overall in '94, the cross country World Championships in '95, the Tour VTT in '95 and national titles.

I rode this bike to the location of this photoshoot and must say that it still rides very good. It's not close to modern mountainbikes, the toptube is very long and with the 140 mm Syncros stem it feels more like riding a racing road bike than a mountainbike! But riding is smooth, steering is agile and the bike accelerates very quickly. It has good response to my output and really feels like a pro's bike from the early days!

Known for lengthening the brakelever in order to mount a barend reached brakelever, Bart choose to not have that feature on this particular bike..

The wheels are build around prototype hubs from the Ritchey factory. also are the rims and the Z-Max 1.9" tyres. Components come from Syncros, Shimano, Magura and Grip Shift.

Check the prototype Rond fork, which allows a travel of 5cm! The marker written letters "BB" show that it's especially for Bart Brentjens.
